Anthem game details

Anthem is set in an open world environment as an action role-playing game. You take the role of a Freelancer with fully customizable exosuits called Javelins. Javelins can be fully customized with unique weapons and incredible abilities. Updated August 8, 2019: The Cataclysm Event for Anthem is officially underway! The test numbers for Anthem dipped pretty significantly lately, but perhaps this new event will breath new life into the game. Will my PC be able to play Anthem?

One of the most anticipated games of 2019 is EA’s Anthem, a third-person shooter with many action RPG elements and seems akin to games like Destiny 2 or Warframe. Anthem will release on February 22, 2019 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows. Players can choose to go it alone or form a squad with up to four people in a group. It’s set in a futuristic universe on a planet that was created by gods called Shapers, and although the Shapers mysteriously vanished, their tools remained strewn across the planet. Long after their disappearance, knowledge of the Shapers has been reduced to that of legends and myths. You will assume the role of a Freelancer - someone trying to survive the hostile world while salvaging the ancient technology by making use of exosuits called Javelins. The different Javelins represent Anthem’s class system, and there are currently four different Javelins that players can choose from: the Ranger, Colossus, Storm, and Interceptor. Each Javelin has access to unique weapons and abilities that are best suited for their role when grouped up in a squad. Now that you have a general gist of what Anthem is, it’s time to take a closer look at its system requirements.

Anthem was built using Frostbite 3.0, the same engine that was used to make games like Battlefield V and FIFA 19. Despite all of them using the same engine, Anthem’s system requirements are nothing short of intense, even on the minimum side of things. In fact, the minimum system requirements for Anthem are just under the recommended requirements for BFV. Just for the video card, you’re looking at needing at least a GeForce GTX 950 or a Radeon R9 270 alongside at least 2 GB of dedicated VRAM. In addition to needing a hefty GPU, your CPU needs to be at least an Intel Core i5-3450 (Ivy Bridge) or an AMD FX-6350 (Piledriver Core). A PC with these parts making up the bulk of your build should get Anthem playing at at least 30 FPS on Low Settings. When gaming on Low Settings just isn’t enough, PC players will need to pay attention to the Recommended Requirements.

As Bioware’s first original IP in ten years, Anthem looks to be both an artistically beautiful and mechanically fluid game, and its Recommended Requirements reflect this ambition. The Intel CPU needed to get above the Recommended Requirement is the Core i7-6700K (Skylake) which hit the market in August of 2015. If you have an AMD CPU, it will need to as fast (or faster) as the 8-core Ryzen 7 1700 (Zen). For either one of these CPUs, you’re looking at a 200-300$ price range. When it comes to gaming, the CPU is used to calculate the player’s inputs, simulations of combat and the environment, and behavior of NPCs. The extreme CPU requirement comes as no surprise since players have the ability to fly around a massive open world filled with life. From stunning realistic explosions to aerial-based combat maneuvers, Anthem’s gameplay will be taxing on even the strongest of computers.

A very powerful GPU is also needed to max out the graphics settings in Anthem - more specifically the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or the AMD Radeon RX 470. The GeForce GTX 1060 is actually one of the more popular Nvidia cards in today’s PC builds, ranking third in overall popularity. However, the Radeon RX 470 is only AMD’s 52nd most popular card currently. The most popular AMD video card, that is also above the recommended requirement, is the Rade
